Protection of Your Privacy

Shell Community Federal Credit Union is committed to protecting our members' privacy and the safekeeping of confidential information relating to their accounts.

Accuracy of Information

The credit union will take reasonable precautions to protect the accuracy of our members' information; however the member is responsible for updating their member record from time to time in order to assure its accuracy. To protect members' accounts, changing of information; address, name or ownership should be completed in writing or in person.

Internal Procedures

As part of our commitment to protect the confidentiality of our members, our staff is trained to understand the importance of confidentiality and privacy of all member information. The credit union distributes a copy of the privacy policy to the staff. New employees receive a copy as part of their orientation. Periodic staff training sessions are held to reinforce procedures and policies.

Information We Collect

We collect non-public information about you from some or all of the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms;
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others; and
  • Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency

We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees and officials who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your non-public personal information.

When Information May Be Shared

The credit union only shares information for legitimate business reasons.

Personal financial information such as your account balance or loan information will never be shared except:

  • When necessary to complete an authorized transaction
  • When a third party is verifying the existence or status of your account in accordance with applicable law
  • When such disclosure is in compliance with the law, government agencies or court orders
  • When you give us your written permission

We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.

We may disclose non-public personal information about you to non-affiliated third parties as permitted by law.

Information shared will be limited. The credit union will never release information received from an outside source (such as a credit bureau).

If you decide to terminate your membership or become an inactive member we will adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice.
